FIR Against 23 Muslims For Serving ‘Non-Veg Biryani To Hindus’ In UP’s Mahoba

At least 23 Muslim youths have been booked by the police after they served Non-Vegetarian Biryani to the Hindu community in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.

The police have booked them for “Promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion and hurting religious sentiments.”

The Hindu community urged that they were served Non-Veg Biryani at the Muslim religious congregation without being informed about it.

The police tried to ward it off as a minor issue but lodged a complaint when a BJP MLA Brijbhushan Rajpoot intervened.

As per the police the complainant wanted to withdraw the case but the BJP MLA asked him to lodge the complaint.

The incident took place on 31st August during a Muslim congregation Urs which was organized by the Muslim residents of the Salat village in the district.

The FIR stated that buffalo meat was served mixed with rice without alerting the Hindus to intentionally hurt their religious sentiments.

The FIR has been registered under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

While the complainant Rajkumar Raikwar has said that only one member Pappu Ansari was responsible for the incident and that the rest were innocent.
