Shocking visuals have emerged of a man being thrashed by 4 men over suspicion of child-lifting in the Moradabad city of Uttar Pradesh on August 30th.
The mob suspected the man to be a child lifter as he was roaming aimlessly in the area.
When the man was accosted and questioned, he couldn’t give satisfactory replies about his whereabouts in the area.
4 men who were the part of a mob then took to beat the man in public and later handed him over to the police.
The police later verified that he was not what the mob suspected him to be.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said, “We have arrested 4 people in connection to the incident while we have directed our Station House Officers (SHO) to sensitize people not to believe in rumours that claim the presence of child-lifters.”
The people in the area were told to inform the police immediately if they suspected anyone of being a child lifter rather than thrashing him and lynching him to death.
The Lucknow Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) P.V Ramasastry said that the antisocial elements were spreading false rumours.
Last year, there were many lynching incidents based on the false rumours of child lifting.
We at the “Change For A Better India” request our audience not to believe in any such rumours and inform the police immediately if you have a suspicion on someone.
Kindly do not take the law into your own hands and let the police do their bit to find out the truth.
