Kerala’s First Transwoman Broadcast Journalist Makes Her Debut With Chandrayaan-2 Reportage

Rewriting/crafting history for the entire trans community, 22 year Heidi Saadiya is the first transgender broadcast journalist from Kerala.

Appalling the newsroom as her second home, Heidi Saadiya opines that this profession is unbiased and free from discrimination.

Adding further, she hopes that in future, the LGBTQ community gets more inclusive workshops.

Heidi Saadiya’s first assignment was on the Chandrayaan 2 development, on news channel Kairali News TV, a Malyalam News channel.

Having worked as an intern for a week with Kairali TV, she was offered the position of News Trainee by the company.

Harbouring no grudges against non acceptance by her parents, she further mentions that she just wants them to trace her growth in life.

Kerala health minister HK Shaileja congratulated Saadiya on Facebook for being an inspiration for the community and making a successful move at a moment’ when Chandrayaan 2 lander, Vikram successfully separated from the orbiter.
